YEAR IN REVIEW: 2017
The Conservative Yeshiva is a diverse, egalitarian, and engaged learning community in the heart of Jerusalem where you can ask questions, explore, and grow, and gain skills for a lifetime.
DIVERSE, EGALITARIAN & ENGAGED
The student body and faculty feature a wide range of Jewish backgrounds (Reform to Modern Orthodox), nationalities (North America, South America, Africa, Australia, and Europe), and ideologies. But all are fundamentally committed to building a single yeshiva community that is inclusive, egalitarian, and promotes social justice.
HEART OF JERUSALEM
Time spent learning at the Conservative Yeshiva means time spent living in Jerusalem and learning about Israel – whether studying modern Hebrew, bonding with Israeli neighbors and roommates, becoming a hummus connoisseur, appreciating local flora and fauna, attending a Hebrew rap performance, praying at the egalitarian section of the Western Wall or with one of the thousands of different religious communities, joining a grass-roots political protest, or simply walking the ancient streets.
ASK QUESTIONS, EXPLORE, AND GROW
Conservative Yeshiva students study Bible, Talmud, Mishna, Hebrew, Jewish Philosophy and other classical Jewish texts in the original and in depth, but at a level and pace appropriate to the learner. Engagement with modern scholarship, ethics, and social movements is encouraged – and students are expected to bring their “whole selves” to the learning.
GAIN SKILLS FOR A LIFETIME
Conservative Yeshiva graduates gain the knowledge, confidence and inspiration to be lifelong learners, thoughtful practitioners, and difference-making leaders in their local Jewish communities and beyond.
